City of Roses

We plant a seed with tender care deep in the Earth for us to share
Because in time it slowly grows from just a seed into a rose
A city of roses and bridges and bikes, a city of food carts and trails for hikes
A city of squirrels and otters and beavers, a city of lovers and teachers and dreamers
And rainfall and train cars and mountains and trees, this port is a land for you and for me
For seeds to grow healthy and strong, they need a place where they belong
Let’s build that place with kindness wise, and when we do we can help each other rise
Like a rose, together we will rise.

For my entire life so far, I’ve had the privilege of living in this strange little city called Portland, Oregon. It’s a really peaceful place with a bunch of chill people. I wouldn’t be the person I am today if I hadn’t been a part of the community in this city. This song pays tribute to all the wonderful people of this city. Keep Portland Weird!
